This is about recognizing the energy of being 50-something or beyond, capturing it in stories and sharing with others in the tribe.

It’s about refusing to settle for a sedentary lifestyle or mindset. It’s about believing that 50 plus means having an active, authentic, generous, spirit-filled life where income bracket, employment, material possessions, neighbourhood, competition and accomplishments don’t set the bar.

It’s also about respecting the status quo but not bearing allegiance to it.  Instead, it’s about realizing we’re all fearfully and wonderfully made and our own healthy curiosities and interests are to be pursued and shared.

It’s about accepting how pointless and soul-sucking it is trying to measure up to the world and that you can waste much life living in the past and worrying about the future.

Finally, it’s about yearning to discover the sweet spot this very day, in this second half.

  1. Kathy, thank you for writing and never stop. With every story I read, and that was all of them, I was there with you. You made me laugh, cry, wonder, challenge my thoughts and I even listened to that beautiful bird more than once. Thank you for being so real, honest and continue sharing your stories.

P.S this is my first post on a blog ever!

  2. 2nd Half Stories……I hope there is overtime! Visiting this site was a pleasant surprise, I found it engaging and yet it feels natural. Writing is a craft and an art form I have much appreciation for – you’re style is fluid and real. Taking readers on a journey isn’t easy – you have done more than that, you have stirred emotions. If I may use one of your words from above – Your writing is truly authentic!
Well Done – Looking forward to more!

    • Wow Dutch, this really means a lot to me. I appreciate the concept of journey in any form it can take. To read that you feel I’ve taken it a bit beyond is going to motivate me to keep going further. I’m glad that you’re coming along on the ride:)

  3. Hi Kathy,
I hope you are well and having a great summer. I saw your blog on LinkedIn this morning and I have to say that I am hooked. Well done! You capture a lot of what I, and many thousands of others, think about the second half. It is the time when we all benefit from having a much better sense of our place in the world, wisdom and more perspective. We see more clearly, and perhaps take more time to stand and stare…
    Keep up the great work.

    • Hi Mark, how great to hear from a voice from the wayyyyy past! I’m really glad you like the site. Glad too that you’re in the camp that realizes what this age should focus on. Sadly, it was due to conversations and encounters with so many who do not that made me develop this platform. The more encouragers I can get onside here the better, so please visit often. Or even subscribe;) All the best!

      • Hi Kathy. I am bound to keep coming back. Your writing is excellent and the material resonates with me. I have subscribed and will plug your blog to people I know will really appreciate it. Take care. Mark
